HUNG JURY CONVICTIONS ARE NOT CONSTITUTIONAL ...our state HAS WRONGFULLY CONVICTED OVER 1200 PEOPLE.
JEFFERSON PARISH CASE FEATURED ON DR. PHIL SHOW....cases in Louisiana in which people were convicted by a non-unanimous (hung) jury....you OFTEN find major inconsistencies in the case - CAUSING JURORS NOT TO AGREE - If WE THE PEOPLE OF LOUISIANA are going to take a part or the whole of someone's life away, WE NEED TO GET IT RIGHT...not put innocent people in prison!!! Nor should we be nonchalant on fully discovering ALL data in a case. GOD CREATED US ALL-AND DOESN'T VALUE ONE PERSON OVER ANOTHER
OUR LEADERS have watered-down the rights for people in Louisiana who had hung juries in the past (UNCONSTITUTIONALLY) - MAKING SURE NO TYPE OF RELIEF EVEN RESEMBLING JUSTICE will ever come... WHY WHY ??????
LOOK @ THE COURT RECORD!!!
No one with non-unanimous (hung jury) convictions can ever get a fair hearing in the condition of Louisiana

No one with non-unanimous (hung jury) convictions can ever get a fair hearing in the condition of Louisiana's justice system at this time. WHAT MOST OF US DON'T UNDERSTAND....ONCE SOMEONE IS CONVICTED....IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET YOUR VOICE EVER HEARD IN COURT AGAIN BECAUSE OF PROCEDURAL LIMITATIONS.
So, if someone was convicted by a non-unanimous jury (meaning there was some reasonable doubt amongst the jurors), it can take years and years before their voice is ever heard again....if ever again at all. AND NOW IT HAS BEEN CLAMPED DOWN HARDER.
Recently - our legislators passed stricter laws for parole, revamped the death penalty process, lowered the age to be prosecuted as an adult, and other stricter laws to punish and deter crime. WE DON'T WANT CRIME RUNNING RAMPID..... UNDERSTOOD. But one of the main reasons these PEOPLE are committing crimes is because the justice system has failed them, their fathers, their grandfathers, their great-grandfathers, and their mothers.
If you have ever taught school in a New Orleans inner city school (and I have)....many of the students who deal with living in harsh neighborhoods just don't see the value in what we are teaching them in school....therefore....they look to other means. NOT GOOD. WE WANT THEM TO WANT TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS. Many generations of these students have had layer upon layer upon generation upon generation of trauma and more trauma and more trama inflicted upon them. Mostly our black citizens, but white citizens, too.....AND WHEN THEY NEED THEIR VOICE HEARD....WE ARE TELLING THEM TO BE QUIET....NO JUSTICE FOR YOU OR YOUR PAST GENERATIONS. This is not only unjust my FELLOW CONSERVATIVES....it is unholy and dark. WE THE PEOPLE OF LOUISIANA ABSOLUTELY CAN WALK AND CHEW GUM. We can defend the rights of the victim as well as make sure the accused gets a fair justice experience in our courts.
LOUISIANA CAN DO THIS!! WE SHOULD DO THIS....WE CAN BE THE ABSOLUTE BEST STATE TO LIVE IN.
We have UNTAPPED potential in this state.... AND IT IS SITTING IN OUR PRISONS...... and in our suffering neighborhoods.
EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO BE HEARD AND NOT SILENCED. if you are a Trump supporter......just ask him what it feels like. Gag order after gag order after gag order .......
WE NEED TO CORRECT THE WRONGS OF THE PAST THAT ARE SITTING IN OUR PRISONS.....how else can we ever be made whole as a state??? AS A PEOPLE.... LOUISIANA DESERVES BETTER. Will it be your loved one next whose voice is silenced? Fix this before that happens. Let's be proactive. Like the old saying goes.....An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Please take a look at our case law to see the progression of this injustice...

INNOCENT PEOPLE IN PRISON IS UNSETTLING!!! Mr. Landry!!!
In closer observation of cases like these - you will often find other major flaws in the trial and proceedings - which is why there was not a unanimous jury vote agreement

Our Founding Fathers agreed upon this in our 6th Constitutional Amendment - that all jurors should agree - non-unanimous jury convictions are Unconstitutional
Justice Gorsuch (Justice Kavanaugh consenting) decided in Ramos vs Louisiana (2020) that non-unanimous jury verdicts were UNCONSTITUTIONAL - and overturned Apodaca vs Oregon (197

WHY DID OUR FOUNDING FATHERS WANT PEOPLE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY????
Because they understood the POWER a GOVERNMENT has against a single person trying to defend themselves......just like David up against a Goliath.
THIS GIANT OF INJUSTICE NEEDS A STONE SLUNG at it!!! ... toppling down generations of unfit convictions in our beautiful state, LOUISIANA - we can do better than this.
